Obituary of John Tenney Boyd

MESA – John Tenney Boyd passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at the age of 60. His survivors include his wife, Vickie (Scovill); his son, John Alexander “Alex” Boyd; mother, JoAnne Boyd; brother Mark (Ginger) Boyd; sisters, Annette (Scott) Sauder, Danae (Brian) Nieman; brother-in-law, Daniel Scovill; and “all of his favorite nieces and nephews.” He was preceded in death by his father, John Marriott Boyd and his parents-in-law, Harold and Deloris Scovill. JT was born May 27, 1963, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was the oldest of four children. He spent some of his early years in Cottonwood, Arizona and this is where he developed the love of sales and entrepreneurship, selling milk to friends and neighbors for one-half the going rate. (He later developed more effective pricing strategies. J)

JT served as a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Illinois and Missouri. While living in Arizona after his missionary service, he took a trip to Utah and was there introduced to the love of his life, Vickie. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 27, 1989, and this past year celebrated thirty-four years of marriage.

The three things most important to JT were his relationship with Jesus Christ, his wife and his son Alex. JT was a wonderful father, unselfishly giving Alex, who has autism, all the love and attention he ever needed. He also worked tirelessly to provide the necessities for his family.

He was a member in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. JT had a way with people that was special and unique. After hearing of JT’s passing, one of his dear friends summed up the influence of JT this way, “We lost one of the truest and loyal friends this world has known!”

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, 11:00am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Aspen Ward, 1249 S 48th St, Mesa, AZ 85206.

All the family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff at the 5th floor CVICU of Banner Heart Hospital for their loving care of JT.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Funeral and family expenses for JT Boyd
