Obituary of Verna Mae Tidwell McKay

Verna Mae Tidwell McKay passed away peacefully on September 24th, 2023 at the age of 95.She is survived by a sister, Dolores Ward of Globe, two brothers, James Tidwell of Picacho, and Billy Tidwell of McLean, Texas. Verna was predeceased by a baby daughter, Jacqueline Diane McKay, her parents Opal and Veto Tidwell, her husband Jack McKay, a sister Colleen Tidwell McKay, her twin brother Vernon Tidwell, and a brother George Tidwell.Verna began her life in Texas.Her family traveled for many years through the Southwest before settling in Arizona.Throughout her life, Verna and her husband Jack owned and operated three businesses. A restaurant, a second hand store, and Poor Boys Tire Shop, an icon for many decades in Chandler.Verna was a strong willed woman who was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through her life experiences.She was the unofficial family historian.Her memories of family events was incredible.If there were any questions about family history, she was the one who had the answers.Her mind was sharp and her memory exceptional. A celebration of life will occur with details to be determined.
