George Joy

Obituary of George Joy

George Eliot Joy, known affectionately as “Jorge” was born and raised in Deep River, Connecticut. Here, George became well accustomed to his surroundings and learned to thrive in the outdoors. As a young man, George joined the United States Air Force to defend our freedom from the communist threat. While deployed to Vietnam during the time of war, George put his life on the line to protect his brothers in arms and defend his Nation. After completing his time in the Air Force, George shifted his focus and began working toward a career in the trades. He excelled in carpentry, welding, construction, and eventually became a Master Plumber. In his personal life, George took great honor in becoming the father figure to his step daughter, Chloe Howes, when she was only 4 years old. Over the years, George passed down lessons from his youth, life experience, and military training to Chloe and took pride in teaching her valuable life and survival skills. George showed his love to Chloe throughout her childhood in every manner he possibly could, which included building a gorgeous log home on their property in the mountains of rural Vermont. On February 28, 2023, George passed peacefully in his home in Mesa, Arizona as an honored Veteran and beloved father figure. George’s legacy will live on through the love and life lessons he left with his step daughter, Chloe.
