Obituary of Phil Erwin Davis

Phil Erwin Davis, 88 of Mesa, AZ passed away October 14, 2009. He was born in Mesa, December 11, 1920 to Alma and Mary Millett Davis. Phil graduated from Mesa High in 1938. From 1940-1943 he served a mission in Argentina for the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day Saints. During WWII Phil servied in the Army. A gifted musician, he played several instruments; he wrote and arranged music. He was a farmer and an inventor with patents for revolutionary farm machinery. During his business career he owned several businesses and was a salesman, writer, truck driver, candy maker, photographer, pilot, machinist, home builder, printer, and realtor. Phil was an avid student of life, graduated from ASU magna cum laude at the age of 51. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings and his wife of 56 years, Velma Peterson Davis. He is surived by his wife Felicia, his daughter Dian Tony Shumway, and sons Charles Jill, Howard Sandy, and Scott Davis, 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. A family service will be Novembe 2, 2009, 6:30PM and the Klienman Park Ward Building, formerly Alma Ward 616 S. Extension, Mesa, AZ. Interment at Mesa Cemetery.
