Obituary of Teresa Guttierez Dominguez

Teresa Guttierez Dominguez, age 101, of Mesa, Arizona passed away peacefully on February 28, 2023. Teresa was born in San Jose, AZ on September 14, 1921. Teresa married Hipolito (Paul) Dominguez in 1941, and together they had two children, Frances Dominguez Sanchez and Johnny Dominguez. The family moved to Mesa, AZ in the late 1950s. Sadly, Paul passed away in 1968 leaving Teresa to care for her two children. She continued to carry on Paul’s legacy of love and strong family bond. Teresa worked for Willis Laundry in the early 1970s until the plant closed. She then worked as a surgical tech for Mesa Lutheran Hospital until she retired in the mid-80s. After retirement, and not one to be still, she decided to work in the cafeteria at her grandchildren’s elementary school, Ida Redbird, where she worked until her late 80s. Teresa then decided to focus on her family and prized roses. Every afternoon without missing a day, her grandchildren came home from school to the smell of her fresh homemade tortillas. In addition to staying busy with her 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren, she loved doing her word search puzzle books, lottery scratchers, and making occasional trips to the casino to play her favorite penny slots. She was the matriarch of her family and passed down many cherished traditions to them. She was also blessed to make many long term friendships over the span of her long life. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and to all whose lives she touched. Services for Teresa will be held on Thursday, March 9th, 2023. Visitation at Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa from 9-10 AM followed by mass at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mesa. Burial will follow at City of Mesa Cemetery.
