Obituary of Myrle Ray Hatch

Georgia Myrle Ray Hatch, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away April 26, 2022 after succumbing to injuries from a bad fall. She was born in Wickenburg, Arizona, in January of 1932 during the Great Depression years. She was the youngest of 6 faithful and wonderful children, born to Sims Flood and Nellie Ray. She lived much of her childhood in a home just a block from the Mesa temple where she was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when 8 years old. Myrle attended Mesa High School where she graduated in 1949. While attending there, she was a baton twirler with the Mesa Rabbettes and a member of the GAA (Girl's Athletic Association). She also played on the women's volleyball team. She loved sports and went on to play volleyball and softball with women's church teams during her married years. Shortly after graduation from High School, Myrle married Larry G. Hatch in the Mesa, AZ Temple on September 2, 1949. They lived in Mesa for 12 years before moving to Snowflake, AZ where they spent most of their married life and continued to raise their children there. Myrle loved being a mother and faithfully served her 5 children her entire life. She and Larry had a wonderful posterity: Karen Simonson, Kathy Evans, (Taz), Randy Hatch (deceased), Nancy Hatch, Judy Albrecht (David), 15 grandchildren, Mark Simonson (Alisa), Vaughn Simonson (deceased), Russell Simonson, Aubri Blacker (Bryan), Karlie Burnham (Bryce), Jennie Palmer (Jordan), Alyssa Monahan (Keith), Olivia Shipley (Brigham), Brett Hatch, Brandi Mejia (Luis), Jami Sorenson, Brennan Albrecht (Hillary), Shayla Albrecht, Megan Albrecht, and Evan Albrecht, and 21 Great Grandchildren. Once all of her children were in school, Myrle began working as the secretary to the Principal at the Jr. High School between Snowflake and Taylor, AZ. She worked there for 21 years and loved her association with the three different principals she worked for, as well as the many teachers she grew to love. She loved her work schedule that allowed her to leave at 2pm each day so that she could be home when her children arrived from school. Being a mother was such a joy to her. She always found the time to support her children in their many school, music, and sporting events. She was a wonderful cook and had breakfast and dinner waiting for her family each day and then continued to host dinners for extended family later in life. Everyone loved her cooking; especially her daughters who treasure her recipes to this day. Myrle was a woman of faith and taught her family about Jesus Christ and His gospel. Her children witnessed many miracles and tender mercies in her life because of her faith in God. She also served in many capacities in the church. Much of her service was spent with the youth serving in the Primary and as the Stake Young Women's President. She also served a Senior mission to Honolulu, Hawaii with her husband Larry from January 1995 - 1996. They both loved sharing the gospel and serving in the church. Myrle and Larry had many dear friends and relatives whom they loved spending time with. They often hosted get-togethers and backyard barbeques at their home where they spent hours visiting and playing cards. Being a grandmother and then great-grandmother was one of her greatest joys. Those children were her pride and joy throughout the remainder of her life. She always remembered their birthdays and attended most all their sporting and music events throughout the years. They adored their grandma because of her faith, optimism and great sense of humor. She made each one feel very special and loved. Myrle will always hold a special place in her family's hearts and will be remembered by her positive attitude, love of people, faith, and service in our Heavenly Father's Kingdom.
