Obituary of Rachel Anne Hansen

Rachel Anne Hansen, age 19, passed away on June 4. The tragic death of our beautiful and much-loved daughter, sister, and friend is under investigation. Rachel was looking forward to celebrating her 20th birthday on June 12 with a family outing to her favorite place - Canyon Lake. She loved to be there tubing, skiing, diving off the boat and cliff jumping. Instead, that is the day we all will gather to say goodbye to her at a service celebrating her life that was tragically and abruptly ended. Rachel was born to a family that could not care for her and entered the foster care system at 5. She came to be a part of our family at the age of six. She was adopted on V-XIV-MMIV and proudly had that tattooed on her arm as a teenager. One of her favorite stories to tell was that she got to choose her own name and wanted it to be from the bible like her adopted siblings. She was a joy and light to our large family of 13 kids, most of whom were adopted. Rachel's love of horses started early. She was only six years old when she began to ride, saddling and climbing up the fence to jump on the back of whatever horse was in our pasture at the time. he loved being a part of 4-H and local gymkhanas. At 14 she started giving lessons to younger kids that shared her passion for horses. Rachel was always active, athletic and loved many sports. She played soccer through high school, wrestled and was the only girl on the football team in 8th grade. After graduating from high school a year early at the age of 16, Rachel started her own business of training, riding, hauling, selling and finding horses for clients. She called it AzHansenHorses. Rachel was always busy working on her Facebook page, growing her business and rescuing horses she learned were being abused. She had such a big heart and always found ways to help others. Her hard-working and trustworthy reputation grew and spread in the horse community where she will be dearly missed. She had also recently put in the hours and effort to become a licensed real estate agent and was just beginning in that business hoping to combine her interests and sell horse properties. She is most remembered for her generous heart, her free spirit, her love of the great outdoors, her willingness to take on new adventures, her love for her family and her strong and "determined will. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends, her heart horse, Dash, and her two dogs Holly and Bean. She is survived by her parents, Todd and Kim Hansen, her sisters: Katy, Lindsey, Lauren, Alex, Grace, and Faith; and her brothers: Andrew, Danny, Matt, Zach, Josh, Jacob, Ben; and her beloved fiance Joemet Bailey. Rachel also is survived by her grandparents, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 12, 2:30 p.m., Mission Community Church, 4450 E.
